Tessa Dagenais is the owner of Thrive Mental Health Services and a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who has been providing psychotherapy services to individuals and groups in Marquette and throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Wisconsin since 2010.  She was born in Marquette, MI, where she spent much of her childhood.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, and then her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University in 2012.  She provided individual outpatient psychotherapy services to adults in the Marquette area from 2010 to 2011 working as an Intern at Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula.  Then, she provided individual and group outpatient psychotherapy services to adults with mental illness and substance use disorders while working as an Intern at Great Lakes Recovery Centers of Marquette, from 2011 to 2012.

From 2012 to 2022, Tessa was part of the clinical staff at Pathways Community Mental Health, where she provided outpatient psychotherapy services to children and adults in Marquette and Alger Counties, offering both individual and group therapies.  At Pathways, Tessa also provided emergency services to adults and children experiencing mental health crises; was leader of the Marquette Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) clinical team for adults; Served as Co-Chairperson of the agency's Walk-A-Mile committee to reduce community stigma surrounding mental health, and facilitated a therapy group for adults struggling with Dual Diagnoses-- mental health disorders and substance use disorders.  Tessa most recently worked as an outpatient psychotherapist at the United States Department of Veteran's Affairs from 2022 to 2023, when she left to pursue private practice.

Interventions/Models offered:  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, Gradual Exposure Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy, Marital Counseling/Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, Brief/Solution-Focused, and Strength-Based.

Tessa has served on local municipal Boards and Committees.  She is currently a member of  Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and Psychology Today.  She has integrated knowledge of the providers and services available in the region and has been making important connections with individuals and partners in the region for decades.

Tessa lives in Marquette with her husband and two children.  She enjoys cooking, travel, reading, supporting from the sidelines anything that her children are involved in... and of course, going to camp.
